Towing in Dallas, TX

You're on the shoulder and the car isn't going anywhere. Right now you need two things, and most people have to arrange them separately: somebody to move the vehicle, and somebody to fix it.

That second call is the one that goes wrong. The tow truck takes your car to a lot, or to whichever shop the driver prefers, and now it's Tuesday and you're calling around trying to find out where your own vehicle is.

How this works here

Highlands Auto Center works with Tow Teddy, a Dallas-area towing company, so the tow and the repair are arranged together.

We're straight with you about this: we don't own the trucks. Tow Teddy does, and they do it for a living. What we've done is make sure the handoff between the tow and the repair doesn't drop — which is the part that usually costs you two days.

What Tow Teddy handles

Emergency towing and roadside assistance · flatbed towing · light and heavy duty towing · vehicle recovery · jump starts and battery support · fuel delivery · lockout assistance · tire service · private property and junk car towing · long distance and auto transport

While you wait

  1. Get somewhere safe first — away from the traffic side of the vehicle.
  2. Hazards on.
  3. On a highway shoulder, get out on the passenger side and stand behind the barrier if there is one. Do not stand in front of or behind the vehicle.
  4. Note your nearest exit, mile marker or cross street. It's the first thing they'll ask.
  5. If you can, take a photo of the vehicle and where it's sitting.

After it arrives

It comes to 10524 East Northwest Highway, Dallas, TX. We'll call you before we diagnose anything, and again before any work starts. You approve the price before we touch it.

If it comes in after hours, use the Drop-Off Form so we have your details and can start first thing.

Common questions

Who do I call for a tow?

Tow Teddy at 972-217-4170. For anything about the repair, call the shop at (972) 233-8882.

Does my car have to come to your shop?

No. It's your vehicle and your choice. If you'd like it to come here, tell the driver.

Will my insurance or roadside plan cover the tow?

Often, yes — many policies and manufacturer roadside programs include towing. Check your card before you pay out of pocket, and ask Tow Teddy about billing.

My car isn't drivable but it isn't an emergency. Do I still need a tow?

Probably. If a warning light is flashing, the temperature gauge is high, there's fluid on the ground, or anything is contacting a tire, driving it turns a repair into a replacement. Call and describe it — we'll tell you honestly whether it can make it here.

Can you get it to the shop after hours?

Tow Teddy can bring it in outside our business hours. It'll be here when we open, and we'll call you that morning.
